This is the pre-release to Apple’s iTunes 8.2, this program is need to install the iPhone OS 3 Beta 4, onto your iPhone. There are links to the version for both 64 bit and 32 bit systems.

iTunes is a proprietary digital media player application, used for playing and organizing digital music and video files. The program is also an interface to manage the contents on Apple’s popular iPod digital media players as well as the iPhone. Additionally, iTunes can connect to the iTunes Store via the Internet to purchase and download music, music videos, television shows, applications, iPod games, audiobooks, various podcasts, feature length films and movie rentals (not available in all countries), and ringtones (available only in the USA). It is also used to download applications for the iPhone and iPod touch as long as they are running the 2.X firmware

iPhone OS 3 Beta 4

Again P2P user spongebob gives us the latest beta of the iPhone OS 3. You must have the iTunes 8.2 pre-release to install this, i’ll cover that in a another post. Below are the links for OS beta to the 2G and the 3G version of the iPhone.

Phone OS is the operating system running on the iPhone (both original and 3G models) and the iPod Touch. It is based on a variant of the same basic Mach kernel that is found in Mac OS X. iPhone OS includes the software component “Core Animation” from Mac OS X v10.5 which, together with the PowerVR MBX 3D hardware, is responsible for the interface’s smooth animations. The operating system takes up less than half a GB of the device’s total 8 GB or 16 GB storage. It is capable of supporting bundled and future applications from Apple, as well as from third-party developers. Software applications cannot be copied from Mac OS X but must be written and compiled specifically for the iPhone.
